Vic, here's another WMP Coronet but it's the double lug ones. I'll keep looking for a single lug set...Rich http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-musical-instruments-drums-percussion-Vintage-Coronet-Drum-Shell-Pack-W0QQAdIdZ511290736

Hi Richm,

thank you for your link, for some reason the link wouldn't open up the pictures so I tried to go direct to kijiji and it just says web page not found, perhaps the kit is already sold, but thank you for your efforts I am going to try and get the kit funkypoodle has found, looks like somewhere in Quebec so I think a road trip is on the cards, what we crazy old men do for a drum kit, I guess it's no different than someone going through their mid life crisis and buys a classic car one they always wanted as a youth.

I will let the forum know if I'm successful in obtaining that kit

kind regards,

Vic

It is just like that with three major differences:

1- Vintage drums are way cheaper than vintage cars, especially when the drums are MIJ.

2- The cost of ownership of vintage drums is next to nothing.

3- Drums are way cooler than cars and there is far less possibility of your drums being hailed upon in bad weather, having their shells dinged in a parking lot by another car or being side swiped at an intersection. I also do not recall ever having gotten a ticket in my drums.

All in all I would call that a mid-life crisis well spent. Drums are also far cheaper and much less headache than hooking up with a 20 something trophy wife.

Best of luck on your search. It looks like you have found a lot if help here which is not at all surprising.

You speak from experience? :)

Although I recall that post from last week about vintage drums "speaking" to you...

Do I speak from experience? Oh no. A smart man learns from his mistakes. A wise man learns from somebody else's.

In fact, I am quite happily married. Those drums do speak to me from time to time though. They often say clever things like, "Come and play me" and then afterwards they say "Well, that was a nice try."

I don't want to steal the thunder from Vicnkel, but the precious WMP Coronet kit

from his childhood memories is in his hands now! It was exciting and he is such a nice guy, so I thought I would give him a hand (at a distance) with his restore project.

He asked me about the missing badge on his snare (grommet is apparently intact). I dug around a bit & what I am seeing is that some models have badges on grommets and others have a sticker (?) type badge. I am assuming this is the case with his. Are some factory badgeless?

Vic would like to get this kit as close to his childhood one as possible. I will go over needed pieces with him and start a Wanted thread, but I just want to make sure to get it right. Thanks for any input!

Hi everyone , the restoration is going well big thanks to Rims n Skins, for helping me out with some of the missing parts, the rest of the work now is in my hands literally with polishing, cleaning, new heads, etc. as soon as it's completed I will put up a picture. Big thanks again to Funky Poodle for finding the kit and a special thanks to the Vintage drum forum for your comments. this is such a great forum.

regards,

Vic
