I posted the other day about a kit a few towns over that according to the guy was bought from an elderly gent (original owner) Finally got some pics!So much for "gold sparkle" But this is better, looks like WMP the pics were taken with his phone. I think I have to go see these in person. Any thoughts on these, it looks like the rectangle Star badge. These may turn out to be a nice surprise

Whats really strange, like I said the guy doesn't know anything about drums and he's calling this "gold sparkle" but if you look at this Star timeline, I think I have this kit nailed down to 1966 and it says the "Pearl" wraps were called "Sparkle" in the catalogs?? I wonder if the guy has some original paperwork? He did say there were newspapers inside from the early sixty's. This kit is starting to intrigue me Mind Blowi... My idea of mint and some sellers' idea of mint are quite different. It's hard to tell from the photos but judging by the condition of the ride cymbal and the missing muffler on the FT it might be a good idea to check them out in person as you've suggested.

Hi Rich,

They look very similar to my WMP Star kit, and the hardware and badging looks similar too. If 1966 is right, and I think it likely is, they should have thin shells. The drums will be very light and bright sounding - but not with those original heads! Those are for display purposes only....

If you can get them for the prices discussed in the previous post, I would jump on them for sure. Good luck

Star called it 'Gold Sparkle Pearl' - well they called ALL their finishes '... Pearl' at that time.

For 75.00 you would b be a fool to pass on it, unless they are moldy or deformed or something, those are bad pics. Go get them!

Thank you!
