Check out this Premier drumset and help me find out!

Loading...

Hello everyone!

I have plans to buy this Premier drumset (see pix below). Of course before i will buy it. I want to know more about it.

According to what the current owner of this kit can tell me, this should be a 1965 drum kit with 22"-16"-13"-12" and 14" snare.

He doesn't know nothing about the wood of the shells, doesn't know the exact depts of the shells.

So I started searching on Vintage Drum Guide. I found out this kit couldn't be from 60's but from about early 80's. Although that is what I GUESS!!

I don't know exactly how the drum badges on the shellset look like. As far as I can see, I guess this should be a 80's Premier Gigmaker PD303 Outfit.

AM I RIGHT OR WRONG?

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF WHAT KIND OF WOOD THESE SHELLS ARE MADE?

IS THIS A SOLID DRUM SET?

please give me some answers!!!

Hi. I don't quite think it's a '60's vintage...I don't think Premier used that diagonal swirl pattern back then.

Easy way to answer your Q:

Get a close-up photo of the badge...and reference it to the badge page here:

http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/premier_badges.html

That will determine the approximate date. And from there, we can figure out the wood.

Oh, also...are the shells painted black inside, or are they natural wood inside ?

A pic of the shell interior would also help.

Hello Beatlesfan,

I don't think this kits is that same type of kit that ringo played on in the 60's. First look at the hardware on the shells. These are different.

Anyway thank you for you replying!!!

If the kit is sounding great, I have plans to buy it!

What about this premier? This looks like an 80's Premier kit as far as I see the drum badges and hardware.

As you can see, the wood inside the shells aren't pained black or any other colour. What kind of wood is this?

I guess this is a Premier Powerhouse PD6500 outfit or Premier Kicker PD6400 outfit?

PLEASE, could someone help me find out?!

They ask 500€ for this shellset...

Luigi, you are right.

Beatlesfan...the wrap might be the same style but look at the tom mount, for instance. That's an 80's or later Premier mount...very different from the tom mount Premier used in the '60's.

The second set...now, THOSE look like the classic spec Premier 3-ply birch shells with rings. Even though it my only be an 80's kit (and based on hardware I think you are right about that date)....that looks like a VERY, VERY nice kit.

500 euros = about $650 these days.....

That's not a BAD price for a 4-pc.

I mean, that's a lotta quality you are getting for $650. Way more than you can buy in a new kit.
