1950's SlingerLeedy 7x14 Snare

Here is my "Leedy snare that never was". The shell is mid-50's Slingerland 7x14 3-ply student Radio King and the hardware came from a late 50's Leedy snare. The Leedy 3-point strainer bolted on with only 1 hole needing to be drilled...and the Leedy butt plate (with extension) bolted in as is. I had her wrapped in blue sparkle to match my '58 Ludwig kit. Let me tell ya...this is one kick a$$ snare!

I'll bet it sounds great. Looks great too! What I'd really like to see is a pic of your '57 Slingerland kit. I believe mine is a '57, but is gold sparkle with nickel hardware.

Awe man! No fair! You've got the correct spurs! Mine have WFL spurs that I guess the former owner thought were correct. I've been scouring ebay for those spurs for a year. The WFL's won't stay put, so I can't keep the front end height right.

Purty kit though.

Thanks, Grooves. Too bad about your spurs. I was lucky enough to buy this kit in complete and fantastic shape. I'll keep an eye out for those spurs and let you know if I see any. Have you thought about using some clip-on spurs in the mean time? The Radio King type that slide out for different lengths come up often enough. I just bought a pair in nickel for my '49 Leedy kit. Makes it super easy for breaking down and setting up.
