Trixon Swing 0/400

Loading...

Hello everyone.

My first post here and I'm here on behalf of my soon to be 13-y/o son. A few years ago we bought a vintage Trixon set for him as my in-laws had a friend who passed away and his widow asked them to help her find a new home for her late husband's drum set.

Well, thanks to Ingo's very informative website on all things Trixon, I know that it's a Swing 0/400 with Zyn hihat and cymbal. The bass drum pedal is a Tama. The set is black and according to Ingo's information it was made sometime between 1956-63. (I was made in 1967!)

My son wants a new contemporary set and I can't blame him. I keep telling him that this Trixon snare sounds very good - I'm a guitar player through nearly 30 years, so I know what drummers sound like - but we can sell it easier as a complete set I think.

Any idea as to how much it's worth? I can supply pictures if needed, just don't want to spam the forum with them...

Thanks for any help.

You would have to post pictures. The condition of a set is as important as the brand. ---other thing is. Maybe someone on this forum from Denmark could advise you better. I know Trixon but aside from some girls I grew up with and Akvavit I don't know Denmark.

It`s all there and if that`s the original finish, I wouldn`t take less than $1,300 for it. You have a complete shell pack in great shape for it`s age. People will speak truth about get`n three time more by parting it out. You will, but that will take several years or so.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

yea; O.B. is right. That is a kit in fine shape ---black too; it isn't too common a finish for 50's Trixon. I would suspect the drums to be around 1958 or so----I'd have to see the internals , to be clearer about that.

Only detracting thing is the new spurs and spur mounts, that have been put on but that shouldn't pull away too much. Trixon had fairly thin chrome, for a good measure of the 50's, into the 60's and finding drums that have really good chrome is challenging but I am sure there are a lot around, that aren't for sale.

If you decide to keep them, I might be persuaded to part with one of my black floor toms---but the shipping to Denmark would be pretty hefty---perhaps by fishing boat ? Pt. Traverse>>>>Nfld.>>>>>Iceland>>>>>Denmark! voila!

Christian, firstly welcome to the forum mate and what a great example of the Trixon Swing 0/400 in the rarer black wrap TX10.

Just like O.B and Calfskin I would suggest to keep the kit as one and not split it up. There are not too many of these kits about so probably agree with the $1300 estimate. Also you have the original cymbal arm that so often is missing for these old Trixon kits and usually sell alone for over $100!!

If you decided to hold onto it, the spur mounts are currently for sale on e bay and Ingo would probably have the spurs..

Welcome

Thanks a lot for the replies so far, they have been most helpful. My son and I have decided to let the Trixon set go as is. Yesterday we bought a used contemporary Pearl drum set for him and he's loving it already. He's a great player at 13 years of age and he's not going to appreciate this Trixon set the way a potential buyer/collector will by a long shot.

I'm a guitar player myself and whenever I go browsing for Fender Custom Shop guitars it always ****es me off to see sellers breaking a perfectly fine stratocaster down to parts just for the profit. With that in mind the only right thing is to sell it to a buyer who'll appreciate it for what it is - a blast from the past in more than a pretty good condition. Had this been a Gibson or Fender guitar from 1958 I would have rented a bank box for it already.

Again, thanks a lot for helping out. Bowing
