I recently picked up a Ludwig kit that someone painted white years ago but when I took a lug off I noticed a brushed gold finish. This is the case on all the drums. The shells are perfect and I am thinking of stripping the white spray paint and restoring the gold wrap. I have never seen this wrap before but I kind of like it. This appears to be early 80s with blue and olive badge with a cereal # starting in 303. It is a 24, 8, 10, 13, 14, 16, 18. Is this a rare finish and if so is it collectible? Thanks

Sounds like you'll have a cool kit after removing the paint! Check this link, which shows the finish as "Brushed Gold". Is that it? http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/finishes/ludwig/1982_finishes.jpg

Yeah, it's brushed gold metal wrap. Huge shells.
