MIJ Bass drum tom mount help

Loading...

Hi to all,

Sent a PM to Ralf. This is the assembly I'm looking for. I need to ask a question to the forum about this. It is my hope to find this assembly in repairable condition for around $10 . I'm not familiar with the prices that these MIJ parts are going for so if I have insulted any of you please accept my apology in advance! If I'm way out in left field on this please let me know and I will try and figure another method to mount it. I've got quite a bit in the cymbals and bass pedal so my funds for this project are getting very low.

Thanks again for all the help with the ID of the parts !

Hi Ralf,

Thanks for the response. I assume from your reply that I'm living in a dream world on the price! Guess I will have to explore the snare stand option. Hope I didn't offend anyone on this. I didn't realize that the prices for old MIJ parts had gone up so much! Thanks to everyone that replied. I figured it was worth a shot.

Hold on Dad,

I believe I have one of those units. You can have it for $10 but you have to pay the shipping. I guess around $5. Normally I'd be selling this unit for $20 or so plus shipping.

I would guess that the snare stand will probably cost around $15-20 for a very cheap one plus even more shipping if you can't find it locally. PM me if you are interested and I'll check my inventory when I get home tonight. I have a bunch of those rail consolette units in a variety of sizes and configurations.

Hey Dad - checked my inventory, and none, of the few consolettes I have are two screw mounts. Yeah, this vintage MIJ thing can be a tricky business. You can still occasionally find a nice old kit, that just needs a good cleaning, for as little as fifty bucks, but if it's missing a few key parts, the price can escalate quickly if you attempt to seek each part individually. Personally, my approach is to collect several kits, and try to mix and match for the missing parts, though you do require a bit of storage space, as well as diligence, and patience. Was searching just last year for the same mount you're looking for, and was lucky enough to pick one up from another local drum flipper in the city, along with a few other parts I'd been looking for. Failing that, it certainly doesn't hurt, (and I'm sure no one's been offended) to inquire around here - lots of helpful folks, and deals to be had, and there have been more than one occasion when members have helped others out for no charge, especially when it's a charity project. Sorry I couldn't help out this time, but don't give up.

MutantMozart has one that is 5" . If anyone may have one that's 4 1/4" that gathering dust please let me know. Whats everyone's opinion on using a 4 hole mount? If it's at the 4 1/4 " mount I imagine it could be adapted.I believe I could make something in the shop.Could a 5 " unit be cut down to 4 1/4"?

Thanks to all and have a great day!
