I love that kind of craftsmanship. i'll bet it is a heavy one! one of the things about these kind of drums ,is the precision locating of the wires against the head. it makes such a difference in realizing a drums potential.

Yes, the top snares are f'd up, but it would be an exercise in futility to try and find replacements. I thought I'd look into having a replica made, but I don't know if I'd have the wherewithal to install them. Each strand is touching the head for the most part, and it sounds good.

I don't hang out at DFO very much. Who are some people that would likely be able to make a replacement?

Thanks for reply. Don't forget about those German drums.

Andrew,Here's what it looks like on the inside. The batter snares are a bit dodgy, but the drum still sounds good. Looks pretty similar to the way that the Beverley is. I didn't want to take the top head off, because I've got the drum dialed in so nicely.Thanks.

Yes, it looks like it is the same sort of mechanism as the Bev. At least yours is dialled in. I still have to work on getting a good sound out of the Bev. At the moment I can't get the top wires not to push on the head. So basically it sounds like a dead sheep being hit with a frozen fish. More tinkering requiredCooked Egg Looks good though

Sorry yours doesn't sound so good. They're very similar looking drums, don't you think? I keep mine tensioned pretty high, and I've got a Remo Fiberskyn Power Stroke 3 'simulated calfskin' head on mine. That's the head I put on all my snares that would have originally had calfskin heads on them. Olympic Drums in Portland, Oregon thinks that they can repair the batter snare, so I'm recording with it now, before I send it off.

Take care.

Thank you very much. I traded for it with an English friend who has traded several rare British drums with me. He's let me have several drums that are one of a kind, and never show up on ebay.UK. I've just got a thing for those older British drums.

Best
