1937 Carlton King

Very rare British drum from the Big Band era. Chances are, you'll never see another one. 6.5 x 14 with twin snares.

Thanks Gerald. I have a Carlton Standard from the same period. It sounds and looks great as well. Carlton was really quality stuff.

that's really nice. Do you have a photo of the inside? I assume it works in a similar way to the Beverley Dual?

Thanks Andrew. I'm afraid I don't know how the mechanism works on a Beverley Dual (I'd love one of those), but it's the same as my Premier Dominion Aces and Ajax drums. I'll take a picture from the bottom and maybe you can tell.

here's the inside of my Beverley. I'd say it would be quite similar but it'd be good to see.

Andrew,

Here's what it looks like on the inside. The batter snares are a bit dodgy, but the drum still sounds good. Looks pretty similar to the way that the Beverley is. I didn't want to take the top head off, because I've got the drum dialed in so nicely.

Thanks.

I love that kind of craftsmanship. i'll bet it is a heavy one! one of the things about these kind of drums ,is the precision locating of the wires against the head. it makes such a difference in realizing a drums potential.
