My Orc Snare is complete

Loading...

This is a 8x12 MIJ tom that I converted to a snare drum. The wrap is a custom job I did just for this drum. Not exactly traditional I know, but well what the hell. I think it looks pretty cool. It sounds really distinctive too. I'm quite happy with it overall.

That looks wicked! Well done. Original art? But you should retake the first picture, somehow it distorted and the lug looks crooked, but the inside shot looks like all of the screws line up correctly.

Oh, that's NOT Shrek? :)

Anyway, great job! I love the creativity and originality!

The interior reminds me of some of the 80s Ludwig Rockers... did you do that yourself?

Yeah that's the camera angle, they line up right.

Yup, can of artificial stone surface paint from Walmart. Never liked those stringy looking Luan fibres, so this covers that nicely. I actually got the idea from an old Rogers set that had a similar interior. I figured, hell if Rogers can do it, so can I.

Come on Phil - spill it already! We all want to know how you did it? Is that a high quality print, contact paper, wallpaper, your own hand-painting that took you 763 hours to complete?!?!

Not only the graphics, but the clear coat...how/what, etc?

I have a couple threads up on this sorta thing....looking for info.......

John

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

It's a laminated printout using UV resistant ink of a design that I prepared in Photoshop.

Ditto. I lean toward the more traditional wraps and veneers but very nicely done. Also, I keep my drums in the bedroom so that would bother me as I slept. lol.
