Trouble Finding Silver Wrap!!! Last viewed: 10 seconds ago

Loading...

I am currently working on getting a 5 1/2 x 8 in double headed tom made for my pearl set. I have looked and made numerous calls to drum shops and have had no luck finding a used one so my only course of action is to have one made.

I am fine with this............the only problem is finding the period correct wrap. In looking at a Pearl catalog (1980) from that era I believe my color was called Silver Flash.

Can anyone possibly help me locate this color wrap ???

I think you will have very little luck with that. I have not seen a current manufacturer of those foil wraps. I have asked here many times if anyone knew who even manufactured them back in the day. I had a 6-8-10-12-13-14-16-18-24 Pearl kit in that finish and I loved them. Sold them a couple of years ago.

Is the silver almost like a very fine flake? Or is it just a smooth finish? What series pearl from that era? I have a newer export 8" bare shell if you want a cheap shell to use?

Thanks, Ryan

Looking at the wrap chart in the first post..............mine is on the bottom left!!

What are you asking for the bare shell and what is the depth ???

I can't quite tell from the picture on my computer. I was just hoping you could describe it a bit. I think I know where you can get a silver, just not sure if it's the right one. I will measure the shell I have. I do have a couple questions though. Are you wanting to double head the drum? or make it a concert tom? If you are double heading the drum, at 5.5" you might have some difficulty fitting in all the lugs unless you stagger them?

Also, is your lug style the same as in the pictures?

Thanks, Ryan

Ryan,

I want to add a double headed 5 1/2" x 8" tom. The 6 1/2" x 10" tom that I have on the set has double ended (snare drum style) lugs. I have posted a thread looking for these lugs.

As far as the wrap goes please get me what info you have. It is looking like I may have to take whatever is close as I can't find this anywhere. I have contacted Precision Drum about building me a tom.
