ASBA vs. LUDWIG: STEEL YOUR FACE!

Loading...

Salut les gars,

here are two legendary and almost rare drumkits:

ASBA Stainless Steel mid 70's and a 1976 LUDWIG Stainless Steel.

A beautiful reunion in the same place.

The ASBA is 24-13-13(!)-16, the Ludwig is 22-12-13-16

Not very surprising that both sound...terrific!

The Asba is fully original but Ludwig had new BD hoops and T rods

ASBA BD: 11Kgs FT: 7 kgs 13"tom: 4.060kgs

LUDWIG BD: 13kgs* FT: 8.5kgs 13"tom: 4.075kgs

* with metal hoops

The steel from the Ludwig is almost the double thickness of the ASBA but i haven't a calipers square to give you more infos to you, details freaks!

But ASBA had die cast hoops.

The 24" ASBA is really killer. The Ludwig is so melodic

I have an other 24-13-18 Stainless steel ASBA but it will be for an other post.

Both are easy to play and to tune. Real Good Machines

What can i say more? Vive la France et les USA! Especially when they build those kind of peace tools!

So, Why do you suppose this one is called Champion ? If it reaches 3,500 degrees F, it will burn away !i

His Ludwig stainless kit has a few things wrong first the 1976 date is not correct nor are the bass drum hoops claws or t handle rods, but Yes I agree.
