Sorry I took so long, here's a good link from a forum on the problem of replacement parts. The member might be registered here.

I'll post more later.

Nice JR... I had actually already picked up a handful of Jim Ryan's collets mentioned in that forum and they are very, very nice. I purchased two and then liked them so much I got three more... very nice item and at the best price I could find.

Waiting to hear back from Drew Music on a 20" bass hoop.

I may go to Jim Petty for the 14" tom legs, the tom arm and the cymbal post... shhh.. I'm hoping I can find some cheaper. He is very helpful and come through with the parts.. so I guess that comes with a price.

Cherie W. actually had a couple parts I needed at a good price so I'm waiting to hear back from her to.

Getting a little close to Christmas to be dumping too much more cash on this kit so I'm in the bargin hunting mode.x-mas3

Sooo... I'm about to put this 14" floor tom back together.. there is no kind of internal muffler or dampening on this drum.

Two questions:

What heads would you use on this little floor tom??

** Drum shop just stick coated ambassador on top, clear on the bottom..

And...

Do I run her with straight pipes or should I figure on dampening this drum down a little?? Moongel, cloth, gaffers tape,... lay my empty wallet on it??

** and it's jazz kit.. don't muffle it at all.

Well I've been tinkering around on this for a few months now... so drum-wise it's down to putting the bass drum together.

I think I've got everything I need to make her whole again. Couple very minor burns on the top of it but the drum is really in great shape.

I never did figure out why it had two different kinds of lug inserts??

When I get this drum back together I can stand the kit up and begin experimenting with tuning...

Still working on picking some cymbals that would go with this lil'jazzer... hats and shell mount crash/ride (suggestions welcomed).

Sure wish that Tower snare matched the fade little better.

More to follow.... just sharing. :)

I,too, bought a Rogers tower basket case for $200. I put another $250 into them and now I have a great sounding gig rig. Looks good too! See pic in drumset gallery "Rogers Project". The black ones.

atomicmorganic,

There is just something very very elegant about Piano Black... those are great looking drums you put together.

I will hit you up for some tuning tips on these little Tower drums when I get there.

I'm really curious what the 20" center lug bass drum and 12" tom with the Rogers bearing edge will sound like compared to my 20" Slingerland bass drum and the Slingy 12" tom. I got no ear, no skills, and no experience but I'm hoping I can pick up some difference between the way these drums sound beside each other... simply for my own edification.

I'm still experimenting with the tuning a little. What I did to compare mine to my Camcos was tune all the drums to the recommended settings with a Drum-Dial tuning aid. The tuning this resulted in sounded great at home but I played a gig with them last nite, and the small tom was about a full step too low. (To my ear) They do sound very good though.

Well that was a bit of a journey.. but I finally got them off the bench.Yes Sir

*Never found the straight Sta-Tite floor tom legs... I just used 3/8th rods cut off while the hunt continues. I really do want to find a set of those.

*Ended up using OLD Slingy field snare rods on the bottom of the 14" floor tom. I can live with that.

*The bass spurs collets are re-mans.. (very nice but re-mans). I can live with this.

*That unfaded Tower snare is very sweet but clearly doesn't match the kit. If I ever find a gingerale silver faded Tower, Powertone or wood Dyna (yeah right) or maybe even a Luxor.. this beauty Tower snare (and it is very nice) goes back on the market.

So THANKS forum, for the contibuted and telepathic encouragement!!
