Oh, sorry.. Duh lol. It's a 20" either really thin ride or a medium thin to thin crash. Idk exactly on the weight or how to find that out.

anything under 1850grms is light...1950/2100grams med..

if light...its a good find..

People generally call it the 60's stamp, however that is not definitive. Zildjian will tell you to add or subtract 10 years for a reason. I had a thin one with that stamp, but it also had the hollow logo Zildjian ink stamp, which officially placed it's manufacture between 1978 to 1981. If there is NO ink, there is no way to tell if it ever had the hollow logo or not.

That's very interesting. I know Zildjian have said that getting a date via the stamp won't be very accurate, but I hadn't heard a plus/minus 10 before. Was that from the old days when they still had a forum as part of the site?

I don't suppose you have a good photo and measurements of the stamp which looked like a "60s" stamp but had the inked hollow Zildjian logo underneath? That would be a nice piece of evidence to document for posterity.

i also ran across one recently that all the clear markings of a 60's stamp. the cymbal itself and the lathing also looked 60's. it also had the hollow ink logo on the rear. i meant to take pics but must not have...it was on ebay a few weeks ago.

Never saw the Zildjian forum. I am going what David G. at Zildjian told me about dating them. I've had plenty of questions regarding old cymbals. Basically his message was that they didn't start inking the logo on until 1978. It was sometime in '82 when they went to a solid logo.

I have a photo of the stamp and one of the top of the cymbal. Unfortunately I can't seem to find one of the bottom, but it would be pointless verifying that the bottom I show you is the same cymbal as the embossed 3 dot stamp.

I have no way of measuring the stamp as the cymbal is long gone, but I did remember at the time that I measured it to be the same size as a set of 60's light hats, and that of another cymbal as well.

Interestingly enough, I did have a crash/ride that I purchased from a guy in west Michigan that contained what became known as the thin stamp of the 70's, but he first bought it new in 1968.

I guess historians would love to know that stamps changed on the decade mark, and never deviated from the present stamp. Unfortunately though, that doesn't seem to be the case in regards to Zildjian pies. I even saw one on Ebay not too long ago that had two different stamps on one cymbal, directly across from one another. Perhaps two different artisans were in charge of embossing and each had a different stamp? One inadvertently took over for the other and stamped the same cymbal a second time. Could it not happen?
