60's Olympics

Loading...

Have the opportunity to purchase this Olympic kit which I believe is from the mid 60's.

Haven't seen it in person yet, but after chatting with the seller and seeing the pics, it appears to be in fine condition.

Only the tom mount has been changed, which appears to be a Gibraltar.

Looks like the snare is the 8 lug "deluxe" model.

Asking price is $600, including the stool, pedal, and one cymbal stand.

Any thoughts?

Cheers, Phil

Even with the added mount, it looks in great condition. $600 is a good price but no higher.

I've been looking at that kit on Kijiji and was tempted...if it wasn't for the 10 hr drive! I love the sizes too! If it's for a players kit, the tom arm wouldn't bug me. Actually the mounting hardware on Premiers is the one thing they never got right IMO. The one thing I actually miss about my Yammies is the mounting hardware...But I digress.

There"s a Premier over your way that would be gorgeous with a bit of TLC too:

Thanks folks. Yeah, not worried about the tom mount, which looks kinda vintage but appears to be a Gibraltar I think.

The seller swears the rack tom is a 10", but looking at the pics it's gotta be a 12" surely? Plus I can find no evidence of Olympics ever offering a 10" tom.

Regarding the Premiers on Kijiji, the price point is ok, but then I would have to locate bottom hoops, plus a kick drum front hoop.

Think I'd be happier with the Olympics, certainly from a nostalgia viewpoint.

Cheers, Phil

They look GREAT.

Tons of mojo.

And that tom mount seems ok to me. At least it's gonna work 100%.

That Prem looks to be in WMP...pretty rare...AFAIK.....

I would be into those....but the Oly's are nice too in that finish.....

Tough call.....

BD is only 6 lugs...that's a turn off for me....later Super Oly's were 8.....
