Vintage Ludwig - Mixed Years, Value?

I picked this Ludwig kit up last week. I haven't had time to clean it and polish it yet, but I think it's a really nice vintage kit. The wrap is original and tight with no problems and no extra holes drilled. It came with Zildjian HH, Ride & Crash, stands, Ludwig Speedmaster bass pedal,stool, cases, original key and tom tool. The bass drum has an exterior mounted big round muffler.

The matching 8 lug snare drum is dated Jan 1961 (white interior) No serial# on badge, Round knog & Muffler.

The floor Tom is dated Feb. 1961 (white interior), no serial# on badge, Round knob & Muffler.

The tom is dated Jan 1963 Red ink (white interior), no serial# on badge, Baseball Bat & square Muffler.

The bass drum has the Ludwig Transition badge on it. As you can see from the pics, the inside is not painted. There is a date stamp but I can't read it clearly Dec 18, 19??

Also, the bass drum is the same sparkle blue (see pictures) as the other toms but, has it has turned to a darker blue. Is there anyway to polish it up and make it more equal to the other toms?

How much would this kit be worth, since the toms are kinda mixed from different years. Does this make it less desireable and more of a player's kit?

Please give me some general thoughts on the kit?

Any idea what year the bass drum would be?

Not below $500 for sure. But the snare is worth maybe $100 plus. Looks like a cool set.

So, you have a kit which was assembled post factory sometime from 2 or 3 orphans/groups.

So it certainly is not as valuable as if the kit were factory. So as a vintage kit, it can't fetch what a whole one would. Of course, even in pieces, sold separately, you could total about $600-700 or so because of the snare. But sold as a kit, probably $550-600 is what you are gonna do these days on a sale. That's for the 4 pcs, not incl. cymbals and stands, etc.

Way more than $100....it looks to be a Jazz festival model.....those bring decent $$, any year....more if its Black Oyster, for obvious reasons....

I would think a little higher than that, even though they are technically a mis-matched set......probably closer to $850.....they are still in pretty decent shape.

See. This is why I'm not a collector. I look at this kit and say, "Wow. I would love to play that kit." I'm not looking at the badges or the fact that it's a Jazz Fest or not. I just want my sticks to sing with it. Dang. It's a seriously beautiful kit. I'm the poor sap that would pay $1200 for it 'cause it looks like it would play like crazy. Shows you what I know.
