Let me get this straight - how much was this kit? German made indicates HQ does it not? ....and the snare is BRASS? The BD is 8 lug, as is the snare. Stick saver type hoops. Who would hesitate to snag these up?

I may not know exactly what you are dealing with here (or how to treat/care for Satin wrap) - but if it could be done, I would consider putting a clear coat on that, especially if it is more like paper than the usual Satin wrap.

What is the snare stand like - any pics of the HH stand yet?

....and oh yeah - pics of the interiors would be nice to see too!

............like a kid in a candy store!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

If the satin flame is somehow like the other ones I know, it has a 3D-effect in it. This will definitely pass away immediately, if you put any lacquer onto it.

I can't say anything about Roxy drums but I do wonder if this set was re-wrapped. From all that I've seen of the 60's and 70's satin flames whether they're U.S.A., German or MIJ they all have a more specific pattern of waves whereas the newer satin flame materials I've seen have more of a chaotic pattern of flames like this wrap has. Just wondering.

Good to know, thank you.

I don't think I will need to do any cleaning, the wrap may be thin but its not damaged. The wrap is taped on with long vertical strips.

Posting more pictures soon

Thanks

Who would hesitate to snag these up?

...someone new to vintage drums who'd never seen a German built kit before?

DOH

Stumbled upon a 60s Sonor kit today at a store, insides were very similar in construction (rering, extra ply around mounts, etc).

More pictures, all the shells have that vertical piece of wood.

smirker, don't beat yourself up. This set is no match for the Slingerlands you picked up, I might have emailed you about them at one point!

Thanks OSD, coming to terms with it now :) Despite its coolness, it wasn't the right kit at the right time for me.

Wondering, were you asking about the dummy tab on the Artist snare? Small world and all that.

The gentleman who had the kit explained that the vertical piece covers over the seam in the wood like on this Sonor kit
