I hope you kept those drums man, i know im a few years late. But theyre pretty cool. not top notch, but theyre certainly not the crap that the new CB series are. they play and sound pretty good, and re worth it for the vintage factor anyway. My father got a red sparkle early 70s cb700 set, 5 peice, and he played them like a pro for a while simply kuz he never had a couple grand to spend on a top notch kit, and also because he never saw it nessesary, they were great drums. He then got an 8 pc pearl export and gave the cbs to a friends children who bet the living **** outa them for a few years. My first memory of this kit was seeing it in their basement with 3 broken heads, the bass pedal broked through the bass resinent head, and pie plate quality cymbals. his parents later got him a tama of some sort and i got the cb700s back, but i already had a nicer set and my best friend wanted a set so i gave them to him, together we refurbished the set with new cymbals, stands, real nice 14x8 pearl snare, and and a nice pedal. after a few weeks we tore it down to the bareshels because the red plastic was cracked and faded to pink. we kept the mahogany natural with a tungoil finish. When his parents bought him a new tama set, i took the cb700s back because id rather hve kept them the entire time anyway, and theyve been in the family since the 70s. I recently added a second floor tom. it was a 60s rogers 15" with these cool diamond lugs. i refinished the entire set again in semigloss forest green and removed one tome so it looked like a bonham style kit. i added a dw 7000 double pedal, a vintage ludwig snare (my friend kept his pearl), and various zildjian and sabian cymbals. i play this drumset ALL THE TIME now and it is so nice! all the chromes been polished and new heads make it sound amazing! ive got alot of drumming experience and quite a few kits in my house, i come from a family of musicians who also ran a music store in CT. So yea... enough storytime, i hope you kept that kit, and if not i hope you enjoyed it to some extent, they really are cool peices of drum history.
