I just purchased a 16 x 16 floor tom.It is in very rough shape date is 1958 .No badge push button leg mounts.Stamped m. This tom had alot of paint inside and out that was added after the fact.It also had asparkle added to the exterior.
I started to stip this off and noticed the outter ply is maple. This means that it was originally painted ...right?(side note instead of roughing it with sand paper to make the paint adhere, someone used a knife and scratched the bejesus out of it , otherwise it would be natural clear. I only noticed 2 ducos in the vintage guide. Is that the only paint options they had back then or were there other custom options? I plan on wrapping this tom , with champaigne sparkle to get two down set up. By the way it does sport one cob hoop, and slingerlands lugs.
I was just curious .Also this drum appears to have had a wrap riveted on it at one time. Would this be a possibility from them.It looks like it has hide glue on the interior where the rivet holes were.
Thanks
Ernie
