How do you/can you remove wrap for reuse?

Loading...

I have an MIJ floor tom with vintage BDP wrap that matches another set perfectly. I want to remove the wrap from the MIJ and attach it to the other floor tom. Do you think this is doable? How do you remove the wrap without damaging the drum or the wrap?

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on what is holding it on. If it is just taped at the seem you might get away with it. If its glued down and you have to use a heat gun to remove it, then forget about it. What are the chances that all hole's will line up anyway? I would say in general, no it wont work. I have tried to remove wrap and put it back on the same drum and had no luck.

Thank you!

If you don`t care about the MIJ, Soak in water till the wrap separates. Drop it in a trash barrel full of water. But like Jeff says, are the holes gonna line up ? No heat or the wrap will shrink !i

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Well I really don't want to trash the drum either. I was hoping to re finish it. I'll post some pictures. If I can find some BDP that looks closer to the vintage 50s stuff on my other drums, I'd have the best of both worlds. I ordered samples from precision but its a different pattern.
