Here are some more pics and all the Hardware is finished. I was going to rewrao them but I like the vintage look with the faded wrap.

Your snare drum is from the late 60's and was made in Japan. The lugs are Slingerland-style. The shells are Philippine mahogany, also known as Luan.

I do see allot of fading on some of the panels of the wrap. Still, this restoration will be an excellent way to introduce to the world of vintage drums!

I am quite sure that your drums are Star stencils from the late sixties. Mikey777 or Ralf will be able to confirm this for you. You're gonna have fun, my friend! Treasure these instruments.

Hummmm....interesting - different lugs on the toms vs. the FT. Muffler handle on the FT looks like Star, but the different lugs styles....??

Love that these are thinner ply with the re-rings. Not sure if Star 3-plys included Lyra.....too lazy to look it up right now.

Once that kit has good edges, new heads, and tuned properly - it will sing with beauty. The thinner ply shells provide a fuller tone with lower bottom end.

Good luck cleaning (and saving) the snare wrap. Is the BD 6 or 8 lug? Metal hoops or wood?? Pics of the BD please.

I assume this is one of the very early Star-made drumsets.

Personally, I know only the 'rounder style' lugs - of the FT - from Star. Perhaps Mikey777 can tell the truth about the lugs at the rack toms. There's another post here with a similar blue sparkle, where we found out that one of the rack toms was made by Pearl. But here we have two equal tom brackets ...Coffee Break2
