trying to find Black Diamond wrap

Loading...

I have a Gretsch 50's I'm pretty sure, round badge bass and mounted tom in black diamond pearl, and I picked up a floor tom with no wrap. I want to try to match as close as possible. I know the color has faded or yellowed, but the new samples that I got from suppliers have a different pattern. Smaller shapes, diamonds and squares from the originals. I also picked a 60's MIJ floor tom and the wrap matches perfectly.

where can i get a wrap for a 16 X 16 that looks more like the 50's BDP wraps?

Yeah, good luck with that-modern BDP just is not the same.Even between American brands they differed.Kent was the same as Gretsch.Slingerland BDP was different in it's surface texture, almost "wavy",and more silvery.

That's gonna be a tough one I'm afraid.

I did a patch up job on 1966 Ludwig bass drum once,...

Impossible to find a better match.

Mwooaa, I would have been much happier with a better match.

I get that, but you did a fine job with the parts you could actually control...as usual.

I have a 50's Gretsch BDP bass drum and 13" tom in excellent condition, all original, but no floor tom. I picked up a Gretsch duco 16"x floor tom, with decent hardware but scratched up shell. I just want to wrap it in a matching BDP wrap so I can play a matching kit. I don't expect it to be perfect/ collectors kit, but I'd like it to be close.

I went so far as to buy an MIJ floor tom with BDP wrap that is a very close match but I'm being told the wrap cannot be removed and reused. So now I have to floor toms for this kit. Not sure what to do.

I find that jammin sam and precision wraps have a smaller diamond pattern and the black is darker. Any help or thought would be appreciated.

As I said earlier,I haven't seen a good BDP match in modern wrap.Maybe the answer is to just buy a different brand BDP floor tom that closely matches while you wait for one to show up.

Well I can just use the MIJ for now but that's really unsatisfying. Anyone see the 60's round badge BDP 16x16 on ebay? It's got a ripped wrap. Is that fixable?
