I have ordered from Sam on three occasions. Each time all I ordered was a single piece to cover a snare drum and a grommet. From the amount of time he spent on the phone with me for the first one, I am certain that he made no money whatsoever. He was very helpful indeed. He does push the tape method like it is a dire consequence, however, I would imagine that is from customers using glue, failing miserably and causing him no end of frustration in the process. Customers often like to blame the vendor for their own mistakes.

I called him about a year ago, to do a 13, 16, 24 project in Champagne Sparkle. He told me he didn't even want to price it for me!! I told him that I knew what I was getting in to, and that I knew it was expensive, but I didn't care, it was what I wanted. He still fought me on even pricing it for me! I told him to just ball park the 2 1/2 to 3 sheets I would need, and he said $1200! I told him that Precision wanted $800 (or so) for theirs, but I didn't want to do business with them, and asked if he was sure on the ballpark- he said 'See, this is why I don't mess with it.' and hung up.

Oh, the things us vintage guys put up with...

You are typically going to pay more from some other vendors, because they are getting their wrap from precision.

My personal experience with Jammin sam was calling for a quote on their white wrap versus their mirror chrome. They suggested I not go with chrome, and quoted me the price for white. Which fizzled my enthusiasm for rewraping my Tama set.

They called me back twice asking if I was still interested in getting the white wrap for my Tama set.

They were nice, but It felt like when you go into a restaurant and the waiter is pushing the fish that's about to go bad.

I am curious as to why you would think Precision is the distributor for Delmar Products? I am not saying that is incorrect, but I had assumed that Sam and others are getting their wraps directly from Delmar.

I want Sam to post on here. I had a great transaction with him. He was patient, helpful, and thorough.

I bet if he explained his actions (or lack thereof) then we would understand his way of doing business. People do business a certain way for a reason. Someone like Sam who has been doing it as long as he has is not fool enough to blow people off who could give him more business later. If so, he will simply lose out on said future deal. Oh well....point is, he must have his reason and it would be much more understandable if he were to clear it up with a post on here.

That said, he should make those eyelets available on Ebay. Yes, it would take time to fill those orders, but would also be great PR. I generally agree with the posters on here (small sales orders yield larger ones), except that I am focusing on the fact that he must have his reasons, which would help his reputation if he posted on here. Also, I'm just not convinced he is a customer service jerk like some impressions here. I am not calling any of you liars....just giving Sam the benefit of the doubt as far as explanations go. ".......walked in their shoes."

Upon a little research I think I was wrong, but...

Precision claims to be the suppliers for drum companies.

Delmar has only been around since 1965, precision has been around since 1961, so who made their wraps before '65, and who made the wraps for all the drum companies in the 40's-60's?

As to jamminsams defense, a business owner has the right to conduct business however he chooses.

I for one work for a corporation, where I Can be treated like crap by "customers" but if I get the least bit smart I could be potentially fired. I think we as consumers often forget that not everyone has to kiss your behind when selling you something and courtesy is a two way street.

This is the forth time in just two days that someone has come on a drum forum and blasted a business because of one transaction. One single transaction. Now, we get the warning from that customer as if we should ban the business or something.

I've done plenty business with Sam and will continue. I've had a very bad experience with precision and yet I continue to do business with them. And I do not blast a warning about any of it on the forums.

Please, unless a pattern exists, chalk it up to either a bad day, a misunderstanding, or personal eccentricities. We are not all the same. Give a bit of slack to others. Sam is a very good guy and a valuable drum resource. Call him and engage in a conversation beyond what you need. You just might learn a thing or two.

I bought my vintage sky blue pearl wrap from him. I was actually talking to him about purchasing red glass glitter and he actually sort of dissuaded me from it since it was my first rewrap on some old shells. Said it was thick and a little hard to work with. He could have made more money by selling me the red glass glitter, but I think he genuinely was concerned about my project coming out the best possible. I even called him during my rewrap process and he took the time to talk me through a couple of things.

I've bought wraps from Sam for full sets, but never his threaded grommets, as I prefer to use the originals. If he is having these threaded gromments manufactured just to compliment his wraps, they may be in limited supply with a low profit margin, so I can fully understand if he doesn't want to sell them by the piece without a wrap order.

I've enjoyed doing business with him, and I will again.
