Ludwig Stainless Steel w/a 24" Virgin BD

Loading...

One of the sickest kits I've ever owned. 24" virgin BD, with 16 & 18" floor toms, and the 9x13" with small classic lugs.

No Doubt, and thank you for being the inspiration for it. I pulled the trigger as soon as I saw them sporting a real virgin 24, and all the tone controls 180 out from the badges. All of your post and shared knowledge was too much to take and I had to have one! My God do they ever rule, nothing on earth can even come close to competing with the projection. What I liked best though, was the clarity of tone and how easy they were to tune.

I believe the great Carl Palmer was touring last year with Asia playing a more current Ludwig Stainless steel. Thunderous, nonetheless. Awesome.

There are great buys out there to be had and the Marine Grade Stainless Steel Sets from the mid to late 70s absolutely slay the new re-issues. They are almost Tank like (Built to last) and don't scratch easily. I guess that's why there are still so many out there with pristine mirror finishes. Back in the 70s a new Stainless set was in todays dollars about 10 to 15,000.00. It was an entire years pay for an Army private for just 4 pieces...
