i have found a cheap project kit for me and my son to work on (if we win it) and its only local and that should keep most, if not all at bay. anyone on here know the model of kit and the wood used? i have looked on here and it looks like either professional or deluxe series.

I'm not sure on the exact model without consulting the catalogs but it's early 70s and has had a later model tom mount blasted into the top of it as well as the corresponding mounts on the toms. Should be a good project if the price is right but there will be a dirty great hole in the top of the BD if you decide to return it to the original mount, not to mention the toms. The original mount would probably have been the smaller hex rods with ball adjustment. Good luck

Yeah, a shame about the tom mount, but otherwise it looks like a nice kit. Hopefully this will work in your favor, and keep the price down. good luck.

By the looks of the wrap I'd say the drums were from 1969. The color is called Red Grain Pearl. According to catalogs I've seen, that color was offered in 1969 and by the looks of the lugs as well. In 1970 Pearl changed the lug design. The tom holders are definitely not era correct, those were added later on as another member had already mentioned. Nice catch!

Perhaps "Pearl"" changed the lug design in '70, but from what I am told, these lugs (battleships) were used on Pearl made stencils through at least '74. I have a DIXIE kit with them - dated to 72-74.

BTW - I dig this kit. Make sure the edges are true and with good heads and good tuning - they sound Great - nice and warm.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Pearl still used these lugs up to 1977 on the lower end line of drums...Mikey

John,Your pretty close on the dates on these lugs..

Pearl used these "Battleship" lugs on Pearl badge sets up to about 1974..This is what year this set is from the badge tells me this..

As you know the tom mount is wrong and was added the right tom mount would have been the "Hex" rod mount.

Pearl also made many stencil sets up to about 1977 with these "Battleship" lugs....Mikey

Hey! Best of luck on this kit. IMHO the tom mount change made this better as far as a player kit goes... Those hex mounts bounced around like silicon Sally when she danced down in front of the stage. Excited
