Here's my Pearl Jupiter with the "President" badge....not sure of the age but guessing '69 - '70 era.
Pearl "President" Jupiter Snare '69/'70
I question the dating on that lug. Not sure those showed up until the early even mid 70s. Experts will surely chime in.

The "President" line was shown in Pearl's '69 catalog (with the same badge as on this snare). In the "70 catalog, this lug design was shown. I'm giving the drum "69 / '70 based on those two facts. Any comments would be welcomed !!!

This is correct. This lug design, as well as the overall design Pearl used throughout most of the 1970s was introduced in their 1970 catalog. See pages of it here:

This is the first catalog that I am aware of that includes 4 shell types available: Fiberglass, Wood-Fiberglass, Wood and NP Phenolic (not sure what the NP stood for). The phenolic shells were introduced in the 1969 catalog (though not called that in that catalog) and were available primarily through their President line, which was Pearl's "bridge" into the "upscale" market. They are thicker than the fiberglass, but a maroon color. The sound is much the same as the FG.
This is why running into "transitional" types of drums like repercussion's Jupiter doesn't surprise me at all. BTW -- the drum looks great!
FYI -- Another 70s catalog mentions the phenolic shells as well (with no NP). See it here:

They seem to be offered only as concert toms. This catalog I believe to be improperly labeled as "74-ish." I would think that "76-ish" would be more likely, comparing the hardware available. The 1975 catalog only offers the typical "hex" style of tom arms (introduced in 1970), but this catalog offers both the "hex" style and the "Vari-set" (7/8" tube) style holders. The 1978 catalog only offers the Vari-set style... Just a thought.
I'm a BIG fan of Pearl drums of this era and have done a lot of research including restoring/refurbishing a LOT of these sets. I've got standard sets (22/16/13/12) of the FG, W/FG (one of my W/FG sets has an added 18 FT), and W series drums as well as many FG orphans and parts/hardware. Even have some phenolic President orphans.
I really don't mean to come off here as "patting myself on the back," but I do have a lot of experience here. So if I can be of any help with this era of Pearl drums, please don't hesitate to contact me. I love these things!

BTW -- if anyone has a hard copy of either the 1970 or the one listed as "1974-ish" available I would like to them to my collection.

Bill, thanks again for your valued input. BTW, I've listed the drum on eBay today. Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link, but here it is:

repercussion!
The "problem" with eBay/craigslist LINKS is that they ALL eventually end up... DEAD. However!, David and I want to be as accommodating as possible to our fine membership, so we allow them to stay... for awhile. I/we will go back in at a later date and clean/delete most of these!
