... How was quality then compared with tama today? ...
Good question. I myself wouldn't interchange my Royal Stars even with a Starclassic Set of today ... It's a totally different vibe.
The overall conditions of those Star's weren't too bad - otherwise all would have landed in the bin. Chrome can be considered as good to excellent (if it was not stored in a barn for years/ centuries. Well, I ask myself, whether a Starclassic of nowadays would survive that ...?!
The chrome must have been good due to the intention of Tama, to present outstanding good workmanship to drummers in order to become a first player in the market of drum manufacturers. In combination with new inventions it caused the success. Leading drummers/ endorsers like Billy Cobham may have been a pushing support as well.
... p.s. And if I was the guy bought your first drum kit and you tracked me down asking to buy it back it would have taken 1 minute, not 1 year, to sell it back to you. :)
Thank you, but this way I had a much longer lasting anxious anticipation ... :D
... You can feel a sense of its being pregnant with possibility - as surely it will development even more over time. ...
Indeed, my first target is to reach magical 100 pics of drumsets there ...!
... I LOVE the Timeline PDF! Do you know if it can that be used for other kits with other badges? I ask this because of the badges on the left. I assume that you can, just want to confirm......that it can be used for other Star-made.....including those with no badges at all (Sears?) ...
Good question, too. I had the same thoughts. I think if you know the configuration of kits with other badges, it can be put into the same timeline with one of those Star kits containing similar configuration (perhaps with a little time shift for reaction on requests: 'I'd like to order x drumsets with the configuration of this Star, but with my own badges on ...' for production and shipment).
