Thanks Ec! I didn't know he had his own kit. Not much into hip hop but he is an impressive drummer.

The guitar center catalog came in the mail and he was on the front with his kit. It may not even be out yet. Could not find any reviews or what the shells are made of. Only $399.99 for the 4 piece. Really small shells. Attractive kit!

Is that what he was playing in the 2012 R&R Hall of Fame Induction?

My thinking is that Ludwig took notice of how the Sonor Safaris were very popular and jumped on the bandwagon.

Modern day Bop-kit/Jungle kit. Not bad for $400 bucks! Too small for me though.

From what I've seen watching live clips, the band is all over the place musically. I seem to recall them doing some 50's Doo Wop, 60's funk, reggae and of course modern funk and soul tunes of which I am not familiar.

I think it's a cute kit. It looks about the same size as my new ($320) Yamaha Gigmaker that I bought to convert to a stealth electric kit.

What are the sizes on those Yammies?

I really like that "white grape" color on the new Yamahas. They used it on an upper level kit as well, but I don't remember which one (Oak custom maybe??)...

How do those drums sound? The stock Taiwan Remo heads are junk, so if you played it that way, it probably didn't sound great... But I have not heard a Gigmaker kit yet, so I'm curious. The Stage Custom Birch kits are quite nice sounding (again, after the heads are replaced) but I was duly impressed with them. The 18" bass on the birch Yams is quite good sounding, and I'm generally not a fan of the 18" (or smaller) bass drum. I could live with the Birch one!
