Thanks Ralf. Ebay did turn up some parts (tom hoops) and Mike Ellis at Blenheim drums sorted a wing bolt for the tom mount. The rest I turned up locally but it took time and $$.

I heard about the Rolls Royce connection and the quality is right up there. Getting the chrome looking good was easy.

That's interesting (and good to know) Rolls Royce did the plating. Premier has some very classy looking hardware. That would explain it. Yes I bet those are a chore finding parts for sometimes. Back when my Dad took me to a drum shop in NYC in the mid 70's for a new kit I really wanted a Premier. They didn't carry them (wasn't a dealer) nor Rogers either. So Slingerland it was.

This was my dream kit at the time and still today....someday!! I even wanted the Swivo hardware just like Bobby Colomby from BS&T had.

The really good thing about these old Premier kits is their affordability, especially here in NZ where an equivilent Ludwig, Rogers or Slingerland etc would cost at least 3 times as much. Some of the parts are difficult to come by here but that's the same for the American brands too. Even with everything I've spent on this kit it still only owes around US$600 which i think is pretty good value.

That said, I'd love a Slingerland kit one day. I really love the Sound King snare I bought recently - possibly my favorite snare at the moment.
