No one uses a triple beam scale anymore?? LOL :) That's a nice scale what type of life do you get from the 9V battery? 11 lbs is a nice weight capacity. Some of the smaller 110V scales (600 gram limit) get sorta expensive. The battery ones are a nice alternative.
I have both NI-CADS and LI-ION and I use these scales quite a bit for all kinds of things. It's hard to say ,regarding the service life of the batteries but with the Ni -Cads, I would guess maybe about an hour to two of actual on time.I keep charged batteries around. . They are only 150 mAh. but I think were only about 2.00 each.I bought the 550 mAh Li ion batteries(about 6.00 each ) to use in the cold because the Ni Cads collapse in cold weather. No idea on them because I just got them. I installed a socket in the side of one for a 9 volt convertor.
Has anyone tried using a fish scale?

Thanks for posting this! I bought the 7001 with the power supply. What a great price and the reviews are all stellar.
Those 11 lb. Starfrit electronic scales are on sale here in Canada for 2/3 off this week. I looked at the shipping and they will go to California for about 16.00, from here. So, if I put a price of 30.00 on them shipping in , that's what they normally retail for. If anyone wants one, I will be glad to ship one out. You can just paypal me 30.00( make sure you pay the fee , please). You will just need a 9v. battery.
Here is a picture. The one pictured uses a lithium button battery. There is a similar one that uses a 9v(rechargeables are available for peanuts online). There is another one with a broader table. All the tables are plate glass. I dropped one from about 4ft. onto the corner of the glass about 2 years ago and all it did was chip it.
