Most collectable MIJ kits/snares

From salty 1322

I agree with Jeff but, also feel that individual tastes will play an important part in determining "collectability". Several months ago, Ralf was kind enough to post my gigging set on DRUM IMAGE GALLERY under "Star drumset in turquoise sparkle" if anyone wants to take a look. I don't know how to transfer the pictures here. Interesting post!! Brian

i would really like to see a pic of the 70 star in turquoise...

i ask because i did have a 68 complete star kit..matching chrome snare and all hardware (i think they were 8 or 9 ply).!!

kind of a light sky blue 3d psyadelic...

pls send to kfabian1970@gmail.com

Heres a 70 Bolero kit with matching snare..

22"/16"/13"/ snare 14"

All drums with rerings..

Rootbeer swirl/..(with the L cym arm)

Gotta say that the bass drum (Eq4) & snare sounded awesome for a ***/.

The flr was to weak for me..

Somebody gave me some advice..as to stainning the inner shells.

Put 3 coats inside & man/increased the sound quaility by maybe 25%

The toms can sound great if you tune them to the shell and get those 2 ply heads off there. Ambassador clears or coated top and bottom would sound great......then use the studio rings. I have had great success with my MIJ toms.

@rims and skins and salty1322:

Here's the link to your turquoise sparkle STAR, Brian:

If I am correct the Bollero (two 'L' as per badge??), two posts above, is NOT a STAR, but a Pearl one ?!

Sorry - forgot to mention.......

If you are not happy with the FT sound, then your problem may be that the edges are not true/good. Get that taken care of before you slap any new heads on there. If they are not good, it will sabotage any great head and effort to tune. However, good edges can bring an old crappy sounding kit into a whole new life and sound AWESOME. I know. I had an MIJ for over 20 years and was never happy with that tom.......until I got all the edges done and now it is my best sounding kit.
