You`re looking at 1963/64 +/- a few years !!
Sonor Chcicago Star (probably)

To do an 18" BD in that era, Sonor would have to cut down a FT,..then , since you can`t put a 18"drum on a drilling station set up to space and drill a 20" drum,..they would have to adjust the station as well !! That`s why I agree it is highly un-likely back then !!

There absolutely are 18" teardrop kicks, very rare but they do exist, seen plenty of them in pics.
Like we said,..it`s possible,..that factory could do anything with a drum !!
Do you remember if they were endorsors or special orders for someone,..I`d like to see one cuz I`ve never heard of it !! Were they after 65 when they changed the lugs again ? Were they 70`s after they had a station for 18`s ?

anyways, a few out there for sure!
That Purdie one has to be a 16? Trixon, Tromsa and Rimmel all did custom jobs. One would assume ,Sonor too. Why not? Price the item as required and if the customer is willing to pay it , all is good. Apparently at Tromsa, you could just walk in the door ,in Russelsheim and order a drum. Perhaps these 18's are custom jobs. It would be a lot easier if you were in the country.
I found out they do exsist, even in that era of 63/64. Never heard of it before, but I still don`t have all sonor`s cats either !!
Hang on to that if you tell him and get it Max even if it`s a 20"
