Help with two cymbals, Zildjian, and Zlico

Loading...

Found these cymbals in the attic. ONe is clearly marked Zildjian made in the USA, stamp it all there, but it has some keyholing and to me serious cracking in the mounting hole area. Weighs 1/5 pounds) 14 inches wide. Is this repairable, worth it? How much would a Zildjian cymbal in this condition sell for?

The second one has a worn down faded stamp that looks like a Zilco, it has the sword on it and I can see the last remnants of the O in the Zilco - weighs 2-3/8 pounds - 14 inches wide. My sister claims they have been in the attic for well over 26 years and has no idea how old they are.

Any help in identifying and estimating value is appreciated. Thanks!

The Zildjian is a transtamp--you need to get yourself a bronze repair washer & some JB weld for it....marko

This is a trans stamp, so early-'50s. If by 1/5 pounds you mean 1.5 pounds or 680 grams, that's a very common weight for a 14" trans stamp hi-hat component. I have four at 623g, 646g, 672g, and 673g. As singles, these don't sell for a whole lot -- $150 to $200 in perfect shape. So yours? Not even sure anyone would bother with that amount of bell cracking. (It's pretty much doomed so far as I can see.) Try the repair suggested above?

That's definitely a Zilco stamp, but I'm not great at dating them. I've got a 16-incher with a much more complete stamp that indicates "Constantinople / Made in USA." That's pretty much what you're looking for ... as opposed to the Canadian-made AZCO varieties, etc. (Not that yours is ... I just don't know.) And that one's almost 1100g.

Bottom line is that you're not sitting on a gold mine, here. Attic find might imply some sentimental value? For what you'd get -- literally just a few bucks on eBay if they sell at all -- maybe hold on to them? (Sorry.)
