OK, someone needs to explain this to me, the snare here is beautiful, I like it so much I did an ebay search to try to buy one, this is the only one that came up and it looks NOTHING like this fine specimen here, whats up?http://www.ebay.com/itm/Slingerland-Spitfire-Tre-Cool-Drum-used-Green-Day-video-Cool-souvenir-14-snare-/150948632162?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23253d5662
Hi again, regarding the "Tre Cool" signature snare that you found on ebay. I found some interesting information by a guy speaking about this signature kit. Here:
"Doesn't Tre Cool play Slingerland? I know he used to....

I thought he was playing Leedy now.

The low end Taiwan kits and the Studio King Keller shell kits from the mid 1990's to present were made by Gibson. Prior to that, they were briefly built and distributed by Hohner/HSS. Some of the HSS kits are exceptional, but most were cheap. Before that, Gretsch was the caretaker of Slingerland. If you ever visit the Gretsch warehouse, you'll see a lot of droolworthy vintage Slingerland drums, still in their original boxes, untouched since the day they were made.
If you're looking for a good set of vintage drums for not a lot of dough, look for drums with the black and silver oval badge that says "Niles, IL"Walking
Fred here again. My advice is, if you want to spend 400 dollars on a "Slingerland" snare, then buy a TDR 10-lug snare from the 70s (Buddy Rich) or Louie Bellson snares like my "Spitfires" (new video here!)
By the way, I have a 5th "Spitfire" NOS brass, size 5" by 14", 1979 (Louie Bellson) model if someone wants to buy? Contact me for offer, (same copper color as pictured in my blue sofa!)
Location of drum is in New York!
/Good Luck!
