New Drum Wrap Offerings...

Loading...

I don't know about everybody else, but I'm ready for some new, vintage drum wrap choices. How about some correct RED ONYX, that's darker, more

a shade of maroon, instead of the red that's currently available?? How about

red wine ripple, 70's era Ludwig blue oyster?? Also, how about some CORRECT

Pink Champaigne?? How can we, the vintage drum community, communicate

to Delmar, or other companies, to manufacture these and other vintage wraps??

Am I the only one who feels this way about this topic??

Nope, you're not alone at all. I feel the same way about wraps like Mardi Gras and Black Galaxy. Shoot, I'd be happy to see a vintage White Marine Pearl offered. None of the WMP available today comes close to the vintage stuff.

Too many great drums to list here!

I've tried to contact Delmar numerous times (they are in CT) but feel it's just the corp HQ and fallen on deaf ears. Maybe I should say my name is Ludwig or something. DOH

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

The problem is we are not willing to spend enough money for them to care. Years ago, I contacted Delmar to get some Ruby Strata made. They quoted me $59 a sheet (24x54) minimum 400 sheets. I still don't have the $24,000 to order, even though I had almost 100 sheets sold.

Back when all of these finishes were made, companies were ordering huge amounts of it so it was worth production. Now the demand is not nearly enough their trouble....

I would love to find some of the Emerald Green Pearl that Gretsch used for a year or so around 70 or 71. They are VERY rare and I'm not holding my breath for a set to come to market, even if it did I couldn't afford it. Some people say the green pearl that Precision has or used to have was it but it's not, it's nowhere turquoise enough, too green. Real Rogers Blue Onyx would be fantastic too! It's one of the nicest colrs ever but cracks like an egg for some reason it seems.

70's era Ludwig blue oyster??

I would love it if someone did. I saw "keller" shells on Ebay, would be fun to use that and some vintage ludwig hardware to make a matching snare for my DownBeat kit.

This is the closest Ludwig does now, one can buy it to match the GutiarCenter exclusive DownBeat kit in "modern" 70s Blue Oyster Pearl.

You could easily have it done. Even using a Gladstone shell which is closer to the old Ludwig stuff....

I would really enjoy doing it myself though. The hard part would be finding enough original bowling ball wrap that hasn't turned greenish, my kit is still quite blue. Ill lookup gladstone, thanks.

We all have our favorite wraps we'd like to see reincarnated, but I'd pay big bucks just to have sheets made in 80" lengths again so we could wrap our bass drums with only one seam as they're supposed to be!
