Right on Popster

Is that a supersensitive model?

I love this kind of project.

WHATEVER YOU DO-let the plater know it's alloy as opposed to steel.I gave a Superphonic to a plater who assumed it was steel, and when he pulled the hook out of the strip tank, the shell was GONE-I mean GONE,just a hook.

Did you get a quote for re-plating? How much was it? Have you thought about just removing the top coat and having it buffed out? I've seen some Supra shells that look very nice this way.

Can't wait to see this transformation.

Ive done this before to a Acro. The plating cost 125 and it turned out fabulous.

Here's my acro. This is what i have planed for the supra.

I have 4 - 5 1/2 x 14 supra phonic and a 6 1/2 X14 SS supra, plus this one. I may just restore this one and do the rechrome to a reg Supra

That would suck! I would think the guy could have known the shell was alloy by its weight. Nevertheless, did he compensate you?>

Re-chroming is unnecessary and not recommended.

1. Polished aluminum shines every bit as much as chrome plating. (see photo of my drum.)

2. The alloy used to make Ludalloy -rejects- the chrome plating. (see your own drum!) After paying to have it chromed again, it'll look the same as it did before you started in just a matter of time.

3. A simple stripping of the chrome and a professional polishing of the aluminum is all that is required. It'll have the added advantage of making the job cheaper and the aluminum will never flake again.

Definition of insanity: Performing the same act over and over again expecting a different result each time... chrome plating will not last/will flake off eventually, on Ludalloy! Period. Why pay to make the same mistake twice?

John

Too many great drums to list here!
