Help, bent claw.... Ludwig

Loading...

Nice discovery, one of my claws is bent. Surprisingly hard to capture in a picture, anyway.... Just curious if there are any "proper" ways to straighten it. I am sure I can do so, just figured it would be good to ask first.

No, the chrome isn't perfect, so I don't have to be super careful about that... (EDIT: these are "before" pics, they clean up pretty darned well...)

Thanks in advance....

Ouch... hope it wasn't on the drum when that happened.

Not sure on a "proper" way. Probably a grip it and rip it ... or better a gently apply pressure until it matches the other one.

... or buy a good one on the ol'Internets.

Not a Guru... just interested..

Yep just bend it back by hand if you can. If not cover in a rag and gingerly use plyers. I had a few where the tips were pulled flat from over tension. Pair of small toothless plyers get them right back into shape. Use that clip on the bottom batter side to hide if need be.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Grip it and rip it sounds good to me. Figured I would ask first in case someone had come up with a great way to do it.

Holy cow, can't imagine a drum hoop would survive being pulled flat...

OddBall Lay it on the floor and step on it !!

actually not a bad idea at all! I could lay a towel down on the floor on my garage to keep it from getting scratched.

Thanks all!

I will let you know how it turns out tomorrow.

Stephen - I hope you used Glenn's method. (Fer428) Stepping on them will close up the claw on the end and you'll only end up prying them open so they will fit over the hoop. It's an easy fix.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

stick one side in a vice to hold it, and use plyers to bend the other side back. using protction if needed of course.

Check for incendiary devices before manipulating your bent claw.

The MIJ invasion used many clandestine methods to wreck the American

drum production industry..................
