Hi All -

I'm about ready to buy a 60's Majestic kit for $299. Looks like a 20-12-16 with matching snare combo. Very cool wrap - kind of a blue grey yellow swirl. The kit looks to be in great shape. Comes with cymbal mount and original L arm. Does anyone really know for sure about their quality and Company of origin? I've read that they are one of the better stencil kits of the era. Also seen conflicting posts as to who made them . The history of Pearl drums on Wikepedia says Pearl made them, along with Apollo,Whitehall, etc. Then there's a guy who posted here that he's quite sure that Star (Tama) made them . Thanks so much.

If you know anything about these old stencil kits, especially if you hang around here, you'll know that a small handful of Japanese companies, most notably Pearl, and Star, (Tama) exported these kits to N America under dozens of different brand names for various distributors. There is even crossover between the Japanese companies, and the export brands - I've had Stewarts by Pearl, Star, and Hoshino. I believe Pearl put out the Majestics, but as is always the case here on VDF; POST SOME PICS! Only way to know for sure. Sounds like a cool kit, and many of us would like to see. Interior shots, and detail close ups are best to narrow down manufacturer and quality.

MAjestics were made exclusively by Star. They were built using both 3 ply (the Semi-Pro badge) and the 9 ply (Deluxe badge). The 9 ply will not have re-rings and the 9 typically have grey interiors. Hope to see them soon!

I used a huge Majestic snare to record a song of mine back in '05 and it sounded amazing.. It was a marching snare converted into a pop snare..

'Majestic' was also a brand name used by the Dutch company Van der Glas for their marching snare drums ... They have/ had nothing to do with STAR, although they obviously used, partly, hardware parts from other drum companies (as e.g. the one-touch-tone-control damper).

Could it be that you have one of those marching snare drums?

Yeah, Rapf... I remember well this your pic...

In january this year I've came to Majestic diler and asked a guy about sending a modern complete swap of parallel strainer on 14" (hoop with all strainer parts). Guy said to wait for a minute, went into Net and answered me soon - yes sir, it's possible --- your price could be a 468 bucks with shipping...

I said him --- Aa-a-aaahhh... :eek: thanks for your care... :D

I have played my Majestic DeLuxe Kit out many times (12/14/14/20). Very nice sounding drums with good heads on them.
