How common are "Fantasia Pearl" kits?

It probably would look good with a "Stewart" logo on the front head but it is against everything I hold dear to actually spend money on these MIJ kits. I consider them "toys that look like drums" as opposed to actual instruments.

And yet, you listed your drums for $450 in the "Musical Instruments" section of Ki-JJ instead of the toy section........

way to use the members of the forum to gather info and then stick it to 'em.......:(

1985 Tama Superstar piano black (original owner)
85-86 Tama Superstar piano white
early 60's Trixon Luxus champagne
mid 60's Star WMP
early 70's Star 'silky blue'
early 70's Stewart metallic blue
early 70's Stewart psychedelic lava pearl
late 60's Coronet bronze strata
late 60's Coronet blue diamond pearl
2004 Arbiter Flats Pro
early 70's Stewart Fantasia pearl
early 70's Star blue satin flame
early 70's Star jet black double kick kit

Hey Skink;

Yes, that is my kit for sale locally.

Are you the guy who keeps emailing asking silly questions and offering to pick them up Thursday when you get your allowance?

Like I stated, I'm not a fan of MIJ drums, (Sorry if that hurts your delicate sensibilities....), but some people do like them. Some people think they sound decent. So, I thought instead of them just sitting in the corner looking pretty I would give someone who DOES want them the opportunity to own them. So I posted them where people would be looking for them. (FYI, if my asking price is too much for you, it does say o.b.o.! That means "or best offer". I like to barter.)

Sorry you feel so used. I wasn't aware we aren't allowed to ask questions and gather info about drums that we don't hold dear to our hearts. I promise I will only ask questions about Radio Kings and early 70s Premiers from now on. Thank you for setting me straight on the rules of YOUR forum.

Hey Andrew;

What can I say? Some people like Ferraris and some people like Fords. They'll both get you where you have to go but one will sound heavenly doing it.

Haha, maybe. And some would say Ferrari drivers are making up for deficiencies in other areas:) Not me of course.

To be fair, most people couldn't pick a well tuned and sorted MIJ kit over a similarly well tuned US or European kit in a blind listening test (snares aside). Most would pick a Ferrari over a ford though. And I say this as a proud owner of a 60s Ludwig, a Hayman and an early 70s Premier. I do like playing my Yamahas though, and I just recorded an album using a Star kit purchased for $30 which i'm pretty happy with.

Each to their own of course but i just thought it was a little rough referring to MIJ kits as toys rather than instruments in the hang out of many appreciators of MIJ drums. I'll get over it though:)
