Morris kit

Loading...

hi !

it must be the season !

After my wife gave me a Trowa kit in september, now my singer Kate brings me a Morris kit ! And I'm just a guitarist !! :)

Information on the web are very poor... I guess is a low end brand, some local distributor brand for example, made in Japan.

It was owned by his uncle, died in 1985 at 30 years old, and as far she can remember, he bought it in 1970 ou 71.

Kit is : 20" BD, 14" floor tom and 12" tom.

Again, few parts are missing. I'm unlucky again with hit-hat, but there's the cymbal support on the BD.

The system to hold the tom is missing, or at least incomplete, please look at the pics, and help me because I really don't understand ! You can see the two parts on the BD near the holder to show what I have, same with the tom, there's a small plate which slides in the holder, but I don't know how to connect this plate on the holder of the BD.

I have the six T-rod for the front head but the ring is missing ! I guess it will be very difficult to find a purple one, and I will be happy with a black for example (I could put it on back).

cheers

Phil

Hello,

The correct wording for the tom bracket system here is 'rail consolette'. Yours is incomplete, unfortunately.

Here's a pic (in the 1st post) where you can see more details:

Can't say, whether it's easy or not to find such a spare part in France, but any overseas shipment wouldn't be reasonable for this kit. :2Cents:

Hi Phil, Your set is from the late 60's to about 1974 or so.The Morris is made by Pearl used the same lugs that you would see on many sets made by Pearl of that time,Does the set have a badge on it? If so it should be a sticker type of badge...Years ago a music store that i used to go into had a set of these drums 5 pc they were made of clear plastic -like Ludwigs vista's are-- Anyway the only pieces i see that the tom mount is missing is the bolt/nut to hold the two top pieces together you are also missing the Arm that goes into the top pieces to the mount on the tom..I have the arm for your set--the tom mount that Ralf posted has the wrong shape "L" arm it will not work on the mount you have on your set...Mikey

Many thanks for your replies, you are awesome.

Even if the system is not exactly the same, thanks to Ralf for the picture because now I understand how it can work.

Mike, are you sure only a nut and bolt are missing ? It seems the piece with the cog-wheel should have a sister, no ? If not I don't unsderstand how it works.

I understand that the twisted part comes on the plate with the cog-wheel, and all is fixed at the arm, but the arm has perfects holes for a cog-wheel too, no ?

The stickers are gone...but the place is clearly visible with old glue mark. I've seen a pic on this forum of a Morris, and easily recognize the sticker trace on the BD.

Mike, I'm interested in your arm if you don't care to keep it or not. If you have other stuff... will send you a PM.

cheers
