Fibes Drums

Loading...

From Rockiezz

I recently had a chance to purchase a Bass and Floor clear versalite Fibes with Ludwig toms but I passed. Thought parts may be an issue. ?Was that a mistake?

Was it a mistake not getting them... well my friend it all depends on several factors. 1) The condition. 2). drum size. 3). What era were they?

4) Color, etc....

I have found that the older FIBES are out there and you can pretty much find/get what you need.... BUT it's the Austin, Texas built FIBES that are so hard to find.

From my very limited understanding about Austin FIBES is that very few drums were made from 2000 to 2007 give or take. And I hear from time to time the owner might still be building kits today on special order?

The Austin era drums are/were built with care and quality as number 1. Not to mention they were/are built with Jasper shells that give them that perfect sound, I was looking for...

word on the street is that tommy is working on a new fibes factory and will start producing drums again. obviously they won't be jasper (gretsch) shells like the first round of austin fibes, but i suspect they will be just as good.

From a facebook post: "I am remodeling a building to move the factory into, and start production. This is going to take awhile. I will let everybody know."

i'm already starting to save my money.
