60s Sonors, cymbals, parts. Need some info!

Loading...

Hey all, I'm helping a new friend who wants to unload the kit in the following pics. They're obviously 60s Sonors with a matching snare and original hardware, plus a bunch of cymbals, some Pearl fiberglass concert toms, and correct me if I'm wrong, but is that a Keystone supraphonic in the photo as well? That's an old school jingle ring if I'm not mistaken, and it looks as though the kit is all original.

She's a single mom and needs cash so she's not interested in trades... but if anyone here is interested in purchasing this lot, they should contact me.

I will have better photos soon - these are just the preliminary ones she sent me.

I would buy them myself if I had the room to keep them.

Anyone see anything else worth noting in the pics?

Finish looks like red slate to me, just bad lighting and grime all over the drums.

Nice little lot of drums..With out better photos i will try to tell you what i think about them. The Sonor set is from sometime 60's do you know if the shells are 3 ply with rings or 5 ply without rings?.The set looks to be 20,13,16,14 wood snare the ficish does not look right to me are they solid black? If so the set maybe a re-wrapped set.If the shells are 3 ply then the set's from the mid 60's [1967] if the set is 5 ply late 67 on..Badge Photos would help with date. Are the Pearl toms f/G or W/FG or Wood shells by the badge they are from up to the mid 70's..The chrome snare what is it it looks Ludwig to me in the photo. What kind of Cymbals are they? Last question is what is she asking for the lot of drums?...Mikey

Thanks guys.

Mikey, I can see from one of the photos that at least the bass drum has the "split" badge (with the small "Made in Western Germany" badge underneath the main one). I believe the finish is just hard to judge in the photo... should be original... hopefully not painted!

She is sending me more detailed photos soon, and I asked her to make note of the stamps on the cymbals.

As I mentioned, she is a single mom and needs all the help she can get, so I'm trying to find her a buyer that will pay a fair price. If it were my lot to sell and assuming the cymbals are decent, I wouldn't let it go for less than $1000, considering what the Sonor teardrop kits have been going for lately, and that there's what appears to be a 60s Supra and original hardware in the lot as well.

PM me an offer if you're interested! I'll post more details as soon as I have them.

More pics as promised... the finish looks awesome on these... original heads, original felt strips on the kick drum... one missing floor tom foot from what I can tell... otherwise can't see anything missing.

She is open to offers! If anyone's interested PM me and we'll talk turkey!

13 pics - more to come of the Ludwig snare

I guessed correctly...red slate. Sharp looking finish.

No kidding! Beautiful finish. I'm really tempted on this one myself. I had a set of turquoise satin Sonors just like these a couple of months back but I let them go because there were too many missing parts... this one is A-OK.

From what I can tell from her descriptions, there is one A Zildjian cymbal and A Zildjian hats, and one large Paiste Stambul cymbal... not sure what the little cymbal is.

Interesting tray mounted on the HH stand - anyone know if that's a drum thing, or just something someone rigged up themselves?

Everything's included with this kit - cymbals, hardware, the Sonor kit, the Pearl fiberglass concert toms and the Keystone Supraphonic... somebody make an offer!

I'd be tempted, but the killer will be shipping from Canada. Definitely not cheap.

Not as bad as you think. I shipped a kit to California last month for $105

Dang, that's not bad at all. Are you going to be shipping it for her?
