Tama Superstar Frankenkit

Yes. Most of the drums had extra holes that required dowel plugs, so I had to sand those spots anyway. The clear coat Tama used is extremely thick and took many hours of sanding, but it was a labor of love. I used the 3M NF-30 glueThe black kick head has a white Tama logo now, but I'm looking for an original, unmolested Superstar logo head.

DaddyNowhere, who bus an esteemed member here has created a series of die-cut vinyl logos and I believe he did a Tama Superstar logo. Check with him and see.

I put this kit together over several years out of trashed Supes of various finishes. Had to plug many holes and do mega sanding to get the Kryptonite-like clear coat off. No badges ( they were all trashed) and it's now my main gigging kit. Coated Ambassadors really make it sing, and the local sound guys always comment on how great it sounds. I also have a 16X18 and an 8X12 not pictured.

Great looking kit, but the rack tom looks like the rims are dull looking or it's a trick of the light. I've been using Turtle Wax Chrome Cleaner on my hardware and rims and they look brand new. Please don't be offended, I dig your kit!

nice job! you can order decals online for like five bucks and put them on a new coated head or whatever you like. just checkebay. i made up this head for my royalstar kit and it really helps the kit look new again!

Yep, I have the white logo just like that one on a black Superkick reso - it's just not in the picture. The white head with black lettering looks much better, IMO, and very classic. I would really like the original logo that has "Superstar" in small letters under the Tama logo.

I never noticed that in the picture, but it's just a trick of the light, the rims are nice and shiny - I use "Flitz" and it works great.

I feel your pain-I'm living with the scritchy-scratchy Cherry Wine stain rather than sanding my 83's.Beautiful job!

A red sharpie and a bottle of clear finger nail polish will touch up your kit nicely...

A friend of mine has a cherry wine superstar that he used these with and you can barely tell up close and you have to know where to look....

A buddy of mine has a super Mahogany kit that's all scratched up. He found a furniture touch-up pen at one of the mega stores (Lowes I think) that was a near perfect match.
