Deri drums go back a long way(1930's). This one likely dates from the 50's.
The drum came to me for very little but aside from a good cleaning and a bit of lubrication, it needs very little. The badge is painted on the wrap.It will need some touching up too. The birch shell is super light, weighing only 500gm.,with the wrap on. The hoops by comparison, which are of very thick rolled stock, weigh almost 700gm.each. They are unique, with a heavy outward facing bead at the top. All of the parts are precise and well made-----lugs are cast aluminum with spring loaded brass inserts. The throwoff, which at first looks dinky, is a cast block with a brass bellcrank, covered by a chrome shroud. It seems pretty impermeable to damage. The adjuster is on the butt end which is a simple yoke and threaded shaft. Here's a look at the parts. It will be together sometime tonight.
