22" Avedis Zildjian "Thin Dance" Ride

I recently picked up one of these. I am not very familiar with them and I am hoping that you fine folks might help me. It's in great shape, and it sounds great! If Zildjian made a 22" Armand Series Ride, I would imagine it would sound a lot like this, but this one is a bit thinner.

I'm guessing this is 60's cymbal, but wanted to be sure. It does have the larger hole, so fits on an 8mm sleeve with no problems.

Can anyone pinpoint a date range by the trademark? Does anyone know why they designated some models as "Medium" or "Crash" or "Thin Dance" while virtually all others had no such markings?

I have 20" lightweight Avedis like this one, without prints, large bell

Actually, it's not 70's, it's from the 1960's. Thin is the weight of the cymbal and dance is the style of cymbal (i.e.-Ping, Jazz, Rock) I think a Dance cymbal would be used more Big Band stuff

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Thanks for the info. Those are the only markings on the cymbal (nothing on the underside).

i'm certainly no expert. but i try to be observant about these things. i think with the 3 dots but yet lathing that looks more like 70's lathing, i'd guess a late 60's cymbal. nothing but a guess however...

I agree, Mike. The style of lathing, hammering, and that stamp look 70s to me.

Three faint dots in the Arabic lettering are consistent with 1960's, although I agree the stamp is thin like the 1970's stamp.

Yeah, in the absence of a trustworthy timeline (online, anyway), we have to resort to guesswork. I'm willing to bet the dots were added later in the 70s.
