Also Made In Japan...

I do love the MIJ drums, but I also have an obsession with any guitar from Japan in the late 60's...

As with the drums, these entry level guitars ranged from poor to pretty damn good. And unlike todays beginner guitars, these MIJ's had style and plenty of bling. The more buttons and switches the better!

Just as Star was the middle class answer to Ludwig, these guitars were the middle class answer to a Fender. Just open a Sears catalog a drool over the cool shapes and colors...

Now, I was just born when these were in style but I'm sure you older guys had at least one of these in your garage bands back in the day!

nice collection Surfcollector, there's no arguing that many MIJ guitars look amazing. The guitarist in my band has a Silvertone. It has a cool vintage sound that we've used in some recordings. I'm no guitarist but I love how you can use what many would regard as a technically inferior guitar to get a sound that you can't get anywhere else and can really work well for some songs. I also own an early 60s Selmer Tru-voice 8W amp that is incredible - it makes any guitar sound sensational.

Mikey, that case has been turned into an amp by the looks of things - how cool.

OK, back to drums people, as you were.

Actually Fayray, Silvertone made that exactly as you see it...a built in amp in the case. Kind of neat really...I saw one locally a few years back. If everything still works they can fetch a decent sum.
