I have this cymbal and know virtually nothing about it. It is a 22" Avedis Zildjian Medium Bop Ride. :confused:I am wondering when might Zildjian have make this kind of cymbal, if it is indeed vintage, and what might be the value. I acquired it back in 1996 when it came along with my first drum set, which was a vintage Rogers set (more or less). But anyway, the black ink on it is very faint, and the stamp is there- says Avedis Zildjian Co., Turkish Cymbals, made in U.S.A. Again, it is 22". Anyone know anything about this?

Hey Sharon. Welcome.
I have a 20" medium Bop Ride with a trans stamp that dates from the early '50s. If your stamp is indented deeper into the metal on its left and right sides on both the Arabic lettering and the Z and Co in Zildjian Co, its what's called a trans stamp and would date to the very early fifties. Not all trans stamps are Bop Rides, and perhaps not all Bop rides are trans stamps We would need a clear picture of the stamp to be sure.
As to value, in this soft market I wouldn't know for sure. But I would suggest that if it's what I think it is, it's likely to be worth at least three hundred dollars and probably more. Others with more pricing knowledge may chime in.

Thank you for the info! I appreciate it. I am going to post a link to a picture of the stamp and the cymbal. I am not sure if it is indented more on the left side. From my image it seems that it doesn't appear so. I will have to go check it again.

I was surprised that when I started researching this particular Zildjian cymbal, there wasn't very much out there about it. Thanks again! The Band

It looks like a '60s stamp. Definitely not a trans stamp. I'm a bit surprised. I didn't know they were still making Bop rides in the '60s. That age makes it worth less than I suggested. I'm guessing its still worth at least a couple of hundred. hopefully others will have more accurate numbers.
