i have a sample of the modern bermuda sand, and it's the same copper sparkle that gretsch is using on the catalina jazz kits. i really don't like it. it's a funky, cheap looking color.
I understand. It is quite a bit different.
But, I have to admit the first time I saw it was on a Gretsch Catalina Jazz kit at the GC in Wichita, Ks. My first thought was, WOW! Somebody's finally putting this stuff on drums again!
Yes, upon closer inspection, I could see the difference... but that first look had me going! And that has to be what they're after.
I guess the bigger problem I see is the cost. Unless something has recently changed, Precision offers this "modern bermuda sand" at their premium price (price group D)... while their other sparkles are priced lower (price group C). It just won't pay for me to put it on a set that I won't be able to get a better price out of...
