anyone still selling REAL champagne sparkle wrap?

Loading...

i ordered a sample of the new version of champagne sparkle that Precision is selling, and to say the least it is awful.

does anyone know if there is still a place to buy the real stuff? cost really isn't much of an issue (unless it's just ungodly expensive). i think it was about $200 a sheet before they stopped selling it.

Wow... I paid $50 for a piece big enough to do a snare drum a while back.

$900 to $1000 for a 3 pc set almost sounds like price-gouging to me...

Anyway, IMO the "modern bermuda sand" isn't that bad. It's definately got more of a copper color to it than the older stuff, but I guess "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

i have a sample of the modern bermuda sand, and it's the same copper sparkle that gretsch is using on the catalina jazz kits. i really don't like it. it's a funky, cheap looking color.

I understand. It is quite a bit different.

But, I have to admit the first time I saw it was on a Gretsch Catalina Jazz kit at the GC in Wichita, Ks. My first thought was, WOW! Somebody's finally putting this stuff on drums again!

Yes, upon closer inspection, I could see the difference... but that first look had me going! And that has to be what they're after.

I guess the bigger problem I see is the cost. Unless something has recently changed, Precision offers this "modern bermuda sand" at their premium price (price group D)... while their other sparkles are priced lower (price group C). It just won't pay for me to put it on a set that I won't be able to get a better price out of...

Josh - forget the champaign sparkle, you'll never find anything to match the vintage one (which is the one everybody loves,) and the modern version simply isn't worth the price they're asking for it.

(Spoken with a Yiddish accent) 'So what's wrong with a nice white marine pearl?!'

Plenty of other, more affordable, classic finishes to be had. May I suggest the new version of Burgundy sparkle called, 'Merlot.' I put it on a late 50's round badge kit, looks killer. Lots of mojo to that color too.

Too many great drums to list here!
