Ludwig Reissue kit question

Loading...

I'm sorry this post does not concern a vintage kit but rather a reissue. Does anyone know what the 2004 Ludwig reissue kits are like in terms of quality? Shell material? Here is a kit I was thinking about bidding on...

Does anyone have any information on these? your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Cheezy wrap job, look at the top of the bass drum in this picture.

Wrinkly, wrinkly!

The wrap defect is a bit disheartening but are the shells of any quality? Does anyone know what these drums are worth? Where can i find more information on these drums? I've been searching everywhere?

Well, you've got 4 hours to got 'till they are done bidding. The last few minutes are when the REAL action will start if they are in demand.

I can't speak for a 2004 kit, but I've got a set of 1999's the the entire wrap fell off of all the drums, but they sounded GREAT, so I'm having them re-wrapped.

How much did you pay for your 1999 kit? Does it have the newer keystone badges? How many plies are your shells? Thanks.

Well, back then they were a great value, I think I payed about $1200 for the whole kit 26, 18, 14, 14x6 1/2 supra. Most companies were WAY above that in price for such large drums.

I think they're 6 ply maple, like I said, they SOUND great. but the wraps leave a bit to be desired. Given the choice again, I would probably get a natural maple or some other non-wrapped finish.

Fortunately I've gotten to know a guy on a few forums who is expert at re-wrapping drums. He said he would do the job, now I gotta save up some cash and get it done. Cool1

I have a 2004 mod orange 20,12,14 with matching snare and canister. I have never had any problems with the wrap or the quality of the drums. I wonder if that is just funny lighting in those pics. Here is me on mine.

Hey Kurt!!

He did mention the defect in the eBay listing, so it's unfortunately NOT a light trick.

But YOU'VE got one SWEET looking kit there man!!

Mike
